During OT, Ryan worked more with moving his left arm towards and away from his body while resting on a table. One person holds his right arm steady while he attempts to move both arms towards or away from his body. This causes the left arm to have a sympathetic movement in the same direction the right arm is trying to move. His left arm could curl in quite a bit. But, getting it to shove out was a little harder for Ryan.
They also worked with the clothes-pins again. He did an okay job with putting a clothes-pin on the bar. But, he was able to repeatedly grasp the clothes-pin and pull it off the bar.
In PT, Ryan did a great job standing and holding himself upright with the help of a therapist. But, the most exiting part is that he took a few steps today. Though he needed a little help moving his left leg, he was able to step with his right leg on his own. I have a feeling he will be walking on his own in a couple weeks! :)
This afternoon, I was practicing his speech therapy with him. The nurse and I worked with him all day trying to say the word "no." After a few tries, he successfully produced a few good "no's." I am so proud of his fighting mentality. He just won't quit until he succeeds!

Way to go Jenn!!! Keep motivating that Marine (er, I mean sailor). Please tell Ryan that I said I'm looking forward to that 5k he promised me last time I was there.

What can I say, Jenn, you have an amazing quality about you! Although it's been a few years since we've lived near Ryan, he is family to us! You are family to us! We are so glad we were able to make it to your wedding. The memories from that day are soo vivid and clear. To this day Makayla calls you the "real live Princess". We will be mailing out a video soon! Tell Ryan to practice on Tennis on that Wii, Steve would love to be there to play with him!
Lots of love and prayers coming your way!!!

You two have a wonderful week and confidence that this week, too, will bring lots progress and surpassed goals.
Can you text me the dates when your mom is coming up for a visit when you get a chance?
Miss you. Kirsten
I found out about your brave struggle at work. I'm currently TAD to United States Central Command HQ, and I can tell you that you are in the thoughts and prayers of the Navy contingent there. We wish you the best of luck. I have posted about this in my blog at http://searosegrotto.blogspot.com/ --Mike and Rosalyn, proud Navy submarine family
