Today was a slow and relaxing day for Ryan. During the week, there are therapy sessions Monday through Saturday. Sunday is a time for the patients to relax.
The nurses try to reposition Ryan every two hours so that he will not get pressure ulcers (bed sores). As of right now, Ryan has no signs of those. I am glad that Ryan is in the hands of such capable and caring doctors and nurses.
During the day the nurses and I will ask Ryan "yes or no" questions. Some of these questions include "do you know where you are?" or "do you know what month/year it is?"
Based on his answers, we can definitely tell that Ryan has some short-term memory loss. This is very common with head injuries. I have spoken with a couple of people now who have gone through very similar situations. They are fully functional members of society with little to no residual affects. I have no doubts that Ryan will be another example of complete recovery. :)
