Update #90

Today, Ryan and I went on an RT outing for breakfast. A handful of patients from the unit came out. Ryan ordered the peanut butter cup pancakes for breakfast. They looked good! They were so sweet Ryan didn't even need syrup. And, he ate every last crumb.

In speech, the therapist worked with Ryan on the ordered picture card exercise again. He did a much better job today with the cards. His ability to learn things quickly and his attention to detail is great.

On Saturday, RT is planning an outing on the River here in Richmond. Patients that go will be able to kayak or paddle in a raft. The part of the river we are going to is really smooth and has a mild current. Today, for KT, the therapist worked with Ryan in a kayak. Ryan did really well keeping his steady and paddled well with both arms.

When it was time to get out of the kayak, the therapist asked if Ryan wanted to slide out or get dumped out. He wanted to be dumped out. He said it was more exciting that way. So, we dumped Ryan out. He had no trouble getting righting himself in the water. He was wearing a life vest and helmet so we weren't worried about his safety. He came up smiling and spit water in my face. (Same old Ryan.) :)
