In OT, the therapist worked with Ryan on the e-stim machine. She also had him work on extending his wrist and individual fingers. His left hand is really improving every day.
In speech, the therapist worked with Ryan on association exercises. This is where three words are given like "pickle, grass, money" and you have to find what is the common factor of all three. (Things that are green.) ;) Ryan did a great job. She gave him a sheet to do for homework. We worked on it in the evening and he did great!
This afternoon, Ryan had a neuro-psychological assessment of his mental abilities. The doctor performed some memory and visual/spatial tests. He said Ryan did really well. He said that Ryan scored a 20 out of 20 on the visual/spatial test. Ryan has alway been a visual learner and has always had great attention to visual details, so that didn't surprise me. :)
The doctor also talked to Ryan about how to talk to people about his TBI. He said something that I though was very important. He told Ryan to tell people that he has a TBI, but he's not "stupid." This is important because people assume because of his slow and laborious speech that he has lost some sort of mental intelligence. But, he is still the same Ryan. He just has to learn how to use all his muscles (including his mouth) all over again.
In KT, the therapist worked with Ryan in the pool doing some walking.
