In PT, Ryan did more walking with the quad cane and standing. His balance is improving every day. He is still working on his control.
In OT, Ryan was given a roller knife. It looks like an arched knife with a handle Ryan can grip. He can push the knife into his food and rock it back and forth to cut the items. The therapists had Ryan practice on some therapy putty (similar to the consistency of silly putty).
The therapists also put objects inside the putty. Ryan had to manipulate the putty with his right hand and pull the objects out. He did this while the e-stim was working the extensors on his left hand.
Ryan also worked on transferring cones from one side of the table to the other using his left hand. Though his hand still isn’t working completely, his arm coordination is getting better.
In speech, Ryan had to practice saying words with “st” in them. He had to use the word in a sentence and then review how he did. He was a lot harder on himself than the therapist was.
He also played a computer came of concentration (like the memory game). He had to remember where certain pictures were and find their match.
In RT, Ryan played Clue again. We played with the recreational therapist, the speech therapist and another patient. Though Ryan gets frustrated because the game is a little difficult, I think he likes being challenged.
In KT, the therapist had Ryan lift weights. He did leg press, shoulder press and lat pull downs.
