Update #13

Not too much has happened today. Ryan is still resting and catching up on sleep. He is still fighting an infection. His fever has gone down a bit.

Tomorrow all of the specialists will return for a their normal work week. I'm sure I'll have a lot more to report to tomorrow. Monday's are busy around the hospital. The weekends are a peaceful break. :)

I still don't have a time line for Ryan's recovery. I wish I did. But, the brain is a very sensitive thing. It heals itself over time. We won't know how much time it will take until it's all over.

Right now, Ryan is still in intensive care. The next step would be to move him down to a lesser intensive care unit. After that, he would be moved to a recovery ward for his specific injury (Traumatic Brain Injury - TBI).

After beginning his physical therapy rehabilitation here, Ryan would then be transferred to a rehabilitation facility. There are only four in the United States that specialize in TBIs. Richmond, Tampa, Minneapolis, and Palo Alto (CA). Richmond would be the most convenient facility for Ryan and I. This way I would still be close to work and he would still be close to his amazing friends and coworkers. I have a video teleconference scheduled for Thursday with the doctors at the Richmond center. They will be able to explain their services and answer any questions I may have.
