After lunch, Ryan had another life skills assessment with a different therapist. She took him to a mall and had him locate some stores. She also had him pretend to purchase a few items following a budget. She said Ryan had a little trouble finding a path to the stores he needed to get to. She said he needed to problem solve a little better. But, Ryan had no problems shopping within his budget. Overall, he did well.
Ryan and I weren't thrilled about the dinner item tonight so we decided to go out. (Yes, I said it. We went out.) At QLI, we don't need to have a "pass" to go out. We can just come and go as we please. We simply have to tell the nurses that we are heading out so that they know. But, other than that, we can do as we like. :)
We went to Target and got some stuff for Ryan's room and some snacks and drinks for him. Then we grabbed some fast food on the way back to QLI. It is so nice to be able to act like a normal couple that isn't chained to a hospital. I had forgotten how good it feels to be able to go out on a whim. Every day is a step closer to that normal life we took for granted.
