Update #63

Ryan had vision therapy this morning. The therapist worked with him with the laser pointer again. 

In Group, they played a word game after completing the usual orientation.

In PT, Ryan walked with the tall walker again. He still needed some assistance, but is getting better. The did some sitting and standing exercises on the mat. He is getting better at staying upright, but still has a way to go.

In OT/KT, Ryan worked on styling his own hair. (It’s a hard thing to do when it’s so shaggy and curly. ha!)

The KT therapist had Ryan sit on the edge of his chair and work on stabilizing himself. He also did some standing exercises with Ryan. After that, he worked with Ryan’s arms. He had Ryan lift them straight up from the shoulder. He had Ryan lift a weight ball in his right hand.

Ryan had mentioned to me that he had issues with his hearing. So, I mentioned it to the doctors on Friday. He had a hearing test today. The audiologist said that Ryan’s hearing on his right side is completely normal. But, Ryan has some very high pitch hearing loss on his left side. It isn’t anything that will affect him daily and it may get better over time.

In RT, Ryan, the recreational therapist, the speech therapist and I played a round of “Apples to Apples.” I almost won, but Ryan beat me. (I wasn’t even trying to let him win!) ;)
