Another busy day. I have a feeling the days are going to get busier and busier as Ryan gets better.
Ryan went to OT and worked more with the electric razor. He is getting more control of his right hand. They worked with him again on taking off his shirt. He took his shirt off quicker today than yesterday and with more control.
KT worked with Ryan doing a pull up motion with a bar. They had Ryan recline against a wedge and use his biceps to pull himself upright in a seated position. Then he had to recline slowly back down. They also had him do more chest press exercises with resistance on the way down.
PT came and had Ryan walk the length of the parallel bars four times today. He is getting more control of his right leg. He still needs assistance with his left leg. But, he is improving.
Speech therapy did a quick assessment of Ryan's weekly improvement. He did really well. His speaking and enunciation is getting better every day. It's hard to image that a week ago he couldn't even talk. Now he can express his needs vocally. I'm so excited to see him progressing so quickly.
Ryan had another KT session in the afternoon. He was put on a seated stepping machine with handles. As he pushed his legs in a stepping motion, the handles moved back and forth. He did about 15 minutes on that machine. I could see his left leg muscles flexing. Even if his right side is doing the majority of the work, the left side will still benefit from the movement.
Ryan had another visitor today. He is so lucky to have such a supportive group of friends and family around him.

Great news on the progress. The folks across the hall in J'bad anxiously await each update. We're thinking of you daily and send our prayers.
Keep fighting Ryan.

It was fantastic seeing Ryan that day. watching him listen to music for the first time was like what i'd imagine taking your first drink of water after being stranded in the desert. If you want to know the first two songs we put on - they were classics for Ryan - Black Label Society's version of "Heart of Gold" and Death Cab for Cutie's "Soul Meets Body." He was jamming out and it was awesome to be a part of that moment. Stay strong Brother!
