Day 29

After a workout session this morning, Ryan had constraint induced therapy. He played Uno using his left hand.

In speech, the therapist worked with Ryan on dictating a letter to the doctor he is going to see tomorrow. He will be seeing a ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor for his vocal chords. Since the injury, Ryan's voice has sounded different and he has had trouble with his speech. This doctor will be able to tell us if there is anything wrong with Ryan's vocal chords, or if the problem is purely neurological.

After speech, Ryan, a therapist and I went out to eat lunch at a Chinese food buffet. (YUM!) Ryan had to navigate the buffet on his own (in his chair) and get his own plate of food trying to use his left hand.

In PT, Ryan had to do some kneeling exercises on the mat as well as hitting a balloon with his left hand. He then had to walk with the therapist to the light gait machine. Then the therapist worked with Ryan for about 20-30 minutes on the light gait.

Ryan then worked with a therapist on planning his next dining outing. He picked a sushi restaurant. (YUM YUM!) I think we are going this Friday.

This afternoon a couple therapists took Ryan out to test out a three-wheel, recumbent bike for the facility. They said he did really well and Ryan said he had a good time, too.
