Day 4

This morning Ryan had to go to a doctor's appointment. QLI doesn't staff any physicians, so they bring their patients to the neighboring hospital for medical care. The doctor did a brief check of Ryan's status. He determined that everything was in order and we left.

This afternoon, Ryan had an appointment with a therapist for "Outdoor Pursuits." This is an individualized session for Ryan since he is such an outdoor enthusiast. The therapist quickly found out after a series of questions that Ryan basically likes to do just about anything adventurous and outdoors. (Camping, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, climbing, etc.) So, they went online and looked at a map of Omaha. They picked two "lakes" nearby and decided to take a look at them. (They are more like ponds or man-made storm-water resevoirs.)

The therapist took Ryan and I to the first lake which is in the process of being renovated (or whatever you call it when a lake gets fixed up). The other lake was pretty nice. It has a paved path around it and is a decent size. They decided that they would try go canoeing on it next week in a two-person canoe.
