Update #84

In PT today, the therapist worked with Ryan on the unit. She walked with him on the hall to show the nurses how well he is doing. This way, they won't feel so intimidated if they have to help him walk on the unit. She also measured Ryan for his own wheelchair. This will be the chair that he takes with him when he leaves the hospital. He won't always need it, but he will need it for a while after he leaves.

In OT, the therapist did more work with the e-stim machine and stretching exercises. In the afternoon, Ryan was fitted for his own e-stim machine. Up until now Ryan has been using the hospital's machine, but now he will have his own to take with him when he leaves here. The therapists and the e-stim representatives say that if Ryan uses this machine for 3 hours a day, it will greatly improve his mobility in his left hand.

In speech, the therapist did some word exercises with Ryan. She asked Ryan to bring his iPhone to the therapy sessions and show her how it works. She also gave Ryan some interesting homework. She wants him to use his iPhone to program all his therapy sessions in it. She also wants him to get service hooked back up to it so he can start calling and texting people again. We'll get this done this weekend.

In KT, Ryan did more exercises in the pool.
