Update #11

Physical therapists came in again. The very exciting news is that Ryan can move his left leg. When the physical therapists did what looked like a hamstring stretch with Ryan, they asked him to curl his leg down. He did! So, it is exciting to know that he can control his left side a little.

Ryan's brain injuries are still a waiting game. From what I've been told, Ryan has suffered three types of injuries his brain. Left frontal, right temporal, and diffused. The left frontal injury controls personality and language. The right frontal injury could cause Ryan to be epileptic in the future. And, it is impossible at this time to determine what the diffused (all over) brain injury will affect.

There is no guarantee that he will have any of these problems. But, these are the problems we may have to work with in his rehabilitation program.

At one point during the day, the doctors did a pain test on Ryan's left side and he reached with his right hand to the left side of his body. This is a big thing. Doctor's say it says a lot that Ryan is away of either side of his body and crossed over the mid-line of his body to get there.
