Update #2

I just spoke with Ryan's boss. He gave me an update on Ryan's medical status.

Ryan is still in critical, but stable condition. He still has a breathing tube and is still under heavy sedation. At this time we are unsure if he is unconscious due to the drugs or due to his injury. But, as stated in an earlier email, he was conscious enough at one point to wiggle his toes and squeeze his hand on command.

The doctors don't think they will need to operate on anything at this time or in the future. The ophthalmologist will be in to see him sometime soon to look at his left eye When he looks that over he will determine if there is anything that needs to be done surgically.

The doctors said that Ryan is responding to pain stimulus on his right side but not his left. His boss and I are unsure if this is normal after an injury like this. He did land primarily on his left side. His boss will ask the doctors if that is normal when he speaks with them next.

They think they might transfer him to Walter Reed in Washington D.C. as early as this Friday.

I will keep everyone in the loop as I get updates. Keep praying! :)
